President Obama and Anderson Cooper are hosting a town hall about gun violence on CNN tonight at 8pm ET.
Earlier this week, the president took executive action to reduce gun violence, including cracking down on people selling large numbers of guns without performing background checks. My mother and I were humbled to be in the room as he announced these measures, and were surrounded by fellow survivors and advocates. We are so grateful for the President's leadership and courage.
But, this executive action should only be the start of our efforts. We need Congress to expand background checks to online and gun show sales, and the ban on gun violence research still stands.
Can you help me make that issue part of the conversation during tonight's town hall? All you have to do is send a tweet using the hashtag #GunsInAmerica.
I've made it easy for you. Just click here to send the tweet: http://ctt.ec/aiI26
Thank you for your continued support! In the coming weeks we'll be amplifying our call for an end to the ban on gun violence research and I will let you know how you can help. I will be live-tweeting tonight (@sfclem), so see you in the Twitter-sphere!
