The Anti-EPAL bill is a legislative measure that aims to prohibit any government official to append his name and claim credit for public projects that were funded by taxpayers. EPAL is a street word for "mapapel", a Filipino term for attention grabbers, scene stealers - mostly used for persons who take credits for something they didn't deserve. As senator Miriam Defensor Santiago said, "public officials have no rights to claim any personal credits from projects which was paid by tax payer's money. “We should put a stop to this prevalent practice among public officers, whether elected or appointed, to append their names to public works projects which were either funded or facilitated through their office,” This is a legislative bill worthy of consideration, as it will help in cleansing the government and bureacracy of its highly perceived corrupt image.
