Currently, each member of the U.S. House represents approximately 761,000 people. At this scale, ordinary voices are drowned out, and policy is shaped by those who can pay to be heard. That's not democracy. That's a system built to let wealthy and special interests sideline everyone else.

Hear the People proposes dividing each existing congressional district into 100 Community Districts, each with approximately 7,500 residents. Voters in each district elect a Community Representative, local leaders chosen by neighbors, whose primary job is to select the district’s voice in Washington.

This makes democracy local again,  with no corporate war chests and no media-driven popularity contests. These leaders are chosen by their communities and held accountable by the people they live among. We know that we can't outspend the special interests. But we can out-scale them.

This isn't a theory. We have a legal opinion from a leading constitutional scholar confirming that states can determine how their congressional districts are drawn and how representatives are chosen, subject to judicial review.

We have a model statute ready for your state legislature to introduce today. We just need enough people telling their legislators that they want to be heard.
