Congress: Investigate Trump’s Financial Ties to Foreign Governments
The Issue
A new report reveals that Donald Trump and his family may be benefiting financially from a Qatari government-backed real estate deal while he serves as President of the United States.
According to the New York Times, a luxury tower project in Qatar bearing the Trump name is being financed by a company controlled by the government of Qatar:
"The Trump golf course in Qatar is the most recent in a series of projects that directly involve foreign governments. And it is just one of a growing list of ways that the Trump family is profiting from Mr. Trump’s refreshed status after his return to the White House, including two cryptocurrency ventures".
This raises a red flag: Is the President personally profiting from a foreign government — in violation of the Constitution?
The U.S. Constitution’s Emoluments Clause bars any president or federal official from receiving money, gifts, or benefits from foreign states without Congressional approval.
According to NYT, "Mr. Trump has turned over management of his companies to his sons, but he still benefits financially from these foreign projects."
This safeguard exists to prevent conflicts of interest and ensure elected leaders serve the American people — not their business interests.
We call on Congress to launch an immediate investigation into whether President Trump is personally profiting from foreign government deals.
Determine if this Qatar and other projects violate the Emoluments Clause.
Ensure full transparency and accountability for any financial relationships between the Trump Organization and foreign powers.
No president should profit from foreign governments while in office. The Constitution must be upheld!
