Allow (non Powered) free flight paragliding in Desolation & squaw valley wilderness areas.

The Issue

Wilderness Areas were established to keep noisy  powered airplanes, cars, motorcycles and mechanical devices out of  certain wilderness areas in order to preserve the peaceful, quiet serenity of the area . Free-flight paragliders are silent gliders made out of rip-stop nylon (the same type of material camp tents and parachutes  are made from). they roll up and fit in a back pack. There is a growing group of paraglider pilots that enjoy  "hike and fly", hiking, camping and flying.  hike and fly opens much larger areas to explore and enjoy  than just hiking. Fly and hike has even less of an impact than hiking on an area and the trails.  Two of the most ideal areas for hike and fly are in the Sierra mountains  near Lake Tahoe, the Desolation wilderness area and the Granite Cheif  wilderness area. but they are closed to all low flying aircraft (under 1000 feet) so this prohibits silent non invasive paragliders from flying in these areas . this is a petition to allow free flight (non Powered) Paragliding in wilderness areas. opening up these areas to free flight would also increase revenue for our national forests.
