Concordia parking policy

The Issue

Here at Concordia, for the last three years commuters have been allowed to park on the close side of campus. With the new parking policies in effect commuters will not only have to drive to campus but will have to constantly walk through high traffic areas. All athletic programs that use the fields use this parking lot as well so parking will be a struggle during high traffic times. This is not realistic for the 2022-23 school year. Resident parking should be limited due to residents living on campus and commuters not, forcing commuters to have a need for a car. It is not plausible to micromanage where commuters park and not limit the number of residential parking passes given out. Many commuters in the 2022-23 school year have already been late to class due to the parking struggles and the new policies will not only add to this but have the ability to cause more as well. Residents on sports teams already do not follow the policy to not drive over to the field for sporting events. As commuters we would like to propose that the residential parking be limited or just leave the policy as it was in the beginning year, as a first come first serve basis. May God be with you!
