Concerns regarding Meon Health Practises in Whiteley, Fareham and Titchfield, Hampshire.

The Issue

We, the patients and representatives for patients of Meon Health Practises in Titchfield, Whiteley and Fareham (formally Sovereign health centre and Highlands, Whiteley and Jubilee surgeries) would like to bring our many concerns to the forefront! We are growing increasingly worried and concerned over the lack of access to Doctors, from ongoing issues with E-Consults not working or being constantly turned off, with long waiting times on the phone, leading to the point of being cut off, after a certain period of time. Alongside this is an ever growing list of issues including..

Patients prescriptions being missed and taking ages to reach pharmacy’s.

Patients are waiting often weeks to speak to a doctor.

Surgeries are empty every time you go in, with no one waiting to see doctors.

Important reviews are being missed, with reports of people waiting 2 years plus for reviews for asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Medication, Blood pressure, General Health and more. Due to the fact routine screening are no longer pre scheduled, preventative care has gone by the wayside, causing non-urgent issues to become urgent, which is having a detrimental domino effect on our emergency support services. This is creating additional appointments that could have been avoided, with regular screening appointments.

Long waits for results and incorrect information being given.

Lack of Face to Face visits with some refusals of face to face, causing life changing consequences to the patient.

Local pharmacy’s getting frustrated with continuous referrals to them, which should be dealt with by the surgeries.

Increasing concerns over lack of care to patients with mental health issues and anxiety.

Increasing amounts of patients visiting walk in centres and A&E, due to long waits to see doctor. This is causing added pressure on already over stretched hospitals.

Staff beyond their scope of competency and qualifications, are giving medical advice.

Patients are given time slots for calls which are in turn missed, cancelled or late. This is particularly frustrating for patients in jobs where phones can not be used and where patients themselves are expected to ring to to rebook.

There are many more issues faced by patients but this gives a good overview.

We have tried our very best to address these issues to you, which was evident in the vast amount of visitors to the Holiday Inn on Tuesday 24th May 2022. We feel all these issues are being responded to, in the same way day in, day out and nothing is getting done about them. We are therefore, as a group, expressing our ever increasing concerns and issues and ask what will be done!?

Regards,

The Meon Health Practise Patients.
