We wish to express our concern regarding the recent ceremonial event at which representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran were invited and present, despite ongoing reports over the past two weeks of executions and violent repression of civilians in Iran.

For many, particularly Iranians in exile and human rights advocates, the timing of this event is deeply troubling. Hosting representatives of a government responsible for serious human rights violations in a highly symbolic setting risks conveying normalization of conduct widely condemned by the international community.

We also respectfully note that the European Parliament has designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, a fact that raises serious ethical and public concerns in this context.

While recognizing the importance of diplomacy, we respectfully request public clarification and greater consideration of human rights implications in future symbolic engagements. 

مایلیم نگرانی صادقانهٔ خود را نسبت به برگزاری مراسمی رسمی که اخیراً با حضور نمایندگان جمهوری اسلامی ایران انجام شد، ابراز کنیم؛ آن هم در شرایطی که طی دو هفتهٔ گذشته گزارش‌های نگران‌کننده‌ای از اعدام‌ها و سرکوب خشونت‌بار غیرنظامیان در ایران منتشر شده است.
برای بسیاری، به‌ویژه ایرانیان در تبعید و مدافعان حقوق بشر، این هم‌زمانی دردناک و نگران‌کننده است. میزبانی از نمایندگان حکومتی با چنین کارنامه‌ای در فضایی نمادین می‌تواند این احساس را ایجاد کند که رنج قربانیان نادیده گرفته می‌شود.
همچنین با کمال احترام یادآور می‌شویم که پارلمان اروپا سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی را به‌عنوان یک نهاد تروریستی معرفی کرده است؛ موضوعی که در این زمینه پرسش‌های اخلاقی جدی ایجاد می‌کند.
با درک اهمیت دیپلماسی، با احترام خواستار شفاف‌سازی و توجه بیشتر به ملاحظات حقوق بشری در تصمیم‌های نمادین آینده هستیم.
