I am a tetraplegic who uses a wheelchair, various legislation allows me access to get into a restaurant but 9 times out of 10 when I go to that restaurant my wheelchair does not fit under the table and I am unable to eat a meal comfortably like a normal person able to access the provided restaurant chairs. This makes the whole process of eating out uncomfortable and demeaning.

I am petitioning the government to change the current accessibility laws to enforce  restaurants to provide at least one fully height adjustable table in every restaurant in the United Kingdom. To allow all sizes of wheelchair to be able to sit at a table comfortably.

A wheelchair user should not have to ask for this privilege of sitting at a table and being able to eat comfortably. The onus should be on the restaurant owner that on arrival of a wheelchair user they should show them to an appropriate table and adjust it so that the wheelchair user can eat comfortably. This petition isn’t asking for Heaven and Earth to be moved just a basic human right and level of decency for wheelchair users.
