Subject: Request for the Immediate Removal and Relocation of the Cricket Field Located Within Our Community

We, the undersigned residents, homeowners, and community members, respectfully submit this petition to express our serious concerns regarding the county-owned cricket field located within our residential community.

The cricket field is situated adjacent to public walking paths, a community track, and recreational areas that are used daily by residents of all ages. On Sunday, July 12, 2026, a community member was struck by a cricket ball while walking on the nearby track. This incident demonstrated that cricket balls are capable of leaving the playing area and entering spaces intended for pedestrians, creating a significant risk of serious injury.

This incident has reinforced concerns that many residents have expressed regarding the suitability of this location for cricket. The proximity of the field to areas designed for walking, exercise, and family recreation places residents at unnecessary risk and compromises the safe enjoyment of our community park.

Our community believes immediate action is necessary to protect residents and visitors from further harm.

We respectfully request that the County:

1. Immediately suspend organized cricket activities at this location while a comprehensive safety review is conducted.
2. Permanently relocate the cricket field to a facility that is appropriately designed and situated for the sport.
3. Restore this area to a recreational use that is compatible with the surrounding residential community and public walking paths.
4. Meet with community representatives to discuss future plans for the site and ensure residents have meaningful input before any decisions affecting the neighborhood are finalized.

We respectfully request that the County discontinue organized cricket activities at this location and relocate the field to a more appropriate facility where the sport can be played without placing nearby residents and park users at risk. The safety of our community must take precedence over the continued use of a field that has demonstrated the potential to cause serious injury.

We respectfully request a written response outlining the County's plan to address these concerns and ask that this matter be treated as a priority before another preventable injury occurs.
