We, the undersigned parents, families, residents, and community members of Paradise Hills and the surrounding neighborhoods, respectfully submit this petition requesting the reinstatement of Mariah Cote to the Paradise Hills Recreation Center.

For years, Mariah has been a cornerstone of the Paradise Hills Recreation Center community. Through her dedication, leadership, professionalism, and genuine care for our children and families, she has created an environment that is safe, welcoming, structured, and inclusive. Countless children have grown up attending the recreation center under her guidance, building lasting relationships and positive memories because of her commitment to our community.

Under Mariah’s leadership, the Paradise Hills Recreation Center has become a thriving hub for youth and families. Programs have consistently been well organized, participation has remained strong, and the center has fostered a positive atmosphere where children feel supported and families feel connected. Her ability to bring people together and create meaningful opportunities for our youth has made the center one of the most valued community spaces in our neighborhood.

Her recent reassignment, resulting from an internal personnel matter, has deeply affected the families who rely on her leadership and presence. While we understand that personnel decisions must be made by the department, we believe that removing Mariah from the community she has faithfully served for many years has disrupted the stability and continuity that our children and families depend upon.

Mariah has earned the trust and respect of parents, children, staff, volunteers, and community members alike. Her leadership extends beyond managing programs. She has helped build a culture of belonging and community pride that is difficult to replace.

We respectfully ask the City of San Diego Parks & Recreation Department to reconsider this reassignment and restore Mariah Cote to the Paradise Hills Recreation Center. We firmly believe that her continued leadership is in the best interest of the children, families, and community members who benefit from her dedication every day.
