You are invited to learn about the work the East Van Traffic Coalition is doing to advocate for the removal of traffic barriers in East Vancouver. We hope you can join us and become part of this community effort.

Who Should Attend:

Anyone who wants the barriers removed, and the neighborhood restored to what it was before with no road closures, right turn only, one way only and bicycle only streets.

Why You Should Attend - Many residents believe these traffic calming measures are having the opposite effect of what was intended. Community members have raised concerns that they:

Restrict access for emergency vehicles and first responders, potentially delaying emergency response times.

Divert traffic onto streets near schools, back lanes, and narrow residential roads because key routes are blocked.

Eliminate valuable parking spaces in neighbourhoods that already face parking shortages.

Create congestion, reduce mobility for families, seniors, and local businesses, and represent a significant waste of taxpayer dollars.

Many residents also believe there has not been broad community support for these changes among the more than 100,000 East Vancouver residents affected.
 

At the July 23 meeting Coalition members will present a plan to advocate for these changes. We are also looking for volunteers to help spread the word and connect with neighbours.
