Because the Council has essentially ignored our Petition and has maintained its strategy of refusing to share vital information about its plans for low income housing at 200 Hartford Road, this Group has no choice but to retain well-qualified professionals to examine the Council's plans. For important reasons, we cannot go into a great amount of detail on this platform about the expenses we are incurring that require funding. Please keep in mind that this Group is not just a few over-zealous residents. In addition to the nearly 600 people who signed this Petition, there are a 7 members of our Committee (including a doctor, engineer, entrepreneur, two lawyers and two educators). There are a large number of people (approx. 60-70) who exchange emails within our group on a regular basis about this issue. We formed a LLC. We opened a bank account with funds already in place. We are ready to take the next step in forcing a response from Council on this important issue. Those of you familiar with this Petition know that this group of concerned citizens has a number of questions that we would like the Council to answer before it proceeds with approving a settlement of the pending Court litigation that may include the type of low income housing that was described in the Request for Qualifications issued by the Council on Sept. 7, 2017; that is 150 units of 100% "very low, low and moderate income" rental apartments. We are in the process of raising funds to retain qualified professionals who can review the plan by the Council.  In addition to this "gofundme" account,  we have started accepting donations via check to our Treasurer.
