Community Call: Save Dance Education at Global Arts Plus

Community Call: Save Dance Education at Global Arts Plus
The Issue
Recently, it has been announced at Global Arts Plus that Danielle Friedman-Block’s dance class will be cut short due to insufficient funding, meaning there will no longer be a dance class at Global Arts Plus next year. Parents, students, and community members of Global Arts Plus express our concern and opposition to the decision to discontinue the dance class and no longer have Mrs. Block as a teacher. Dance is not just a recreational activity, but a vital form of expression and education, especially in an art school like Global Arts Plus. Dance fosters community engagement and collaboration, giving students the opportunity to showcase their talents, connect with others, and contribute to the school culture. Not only has Mrs. Block contributed to her dance class, but she has also been very involved in our school musical over the past years. We are very concerned and troubled by the administration's choice to eliminate the dance class and remove Mrs. Block from her teaching position. This decision disregards the importance of art education and the impact it has on student development and well-being. We urge the administration and school board to reconsider their decision and prioritize keeping the dance class and Mrs. Block's role.
