Please Help Us Keep Jamir's Memorial flag in Place
We are asking the City of McKinney and our community to please allow the memorial cross/flag honoring 14-year-old Jamir Dabney to remain at the corner where his life was tragically taken.
Jamir was only 14 years old—a child who should have had his entire life ahead of him. Instead, his family was left grieving a devastating and heartbreaking loss, while questions surrounding the circumstances of his death remain unanswered.
According to the family, evidence and witness statements have raised questions about the possible involvement of a second vehicle. Police have acknowledged that two vehicles were present around the time of the incident, while also stating that they have not been able to identify the driver of the first vehicle or conclusively establish that vehicle's involvement.
Regardless of what the final investigation determines, one thing is certain: Jamir mattered. His life mattered. And his family deserves a place where they can continue to remember him.
That cross is more than an object beside a roadway. To his family, it represents their son. It represents love, grief, memories, and a life that ended far too soon. For people who pass that corner, it is a reminder that the person being remembered was someone's child, someone's friend, and someone who deserved to grow up.
