Communications to prevent/stop child abuse

The Issue

Child abuse and how the perpetrators get away with it, has not changed since Baby P in 2007.

Authorities are still citing communication issues.....we have electric cars and watches you can ring people on but yet a communications system that does what it says, is still not there???

The average number of cases per social worker in the Midlands is 25 cases, how can one person assess and spend adequate time with each family in a week.

Demand a reform in the communications system, join the authorities together into one system so it is easier and quicker for the social services/police/fire/hospital to access all the relevant information to them when they need it - save time and lives. (Yes this is a simplified view, no it won't fix all the problems, but better communication surely can't be a bad thing?) People don't need more paperwork (4-5 hrs a day, some days a report can take 12-16hrs to complete) and boxes to tick, they need time to spend with children/families so they can properly assess/ask the more experienced other members of staff for opinions, this time is taken up with paperwork which could be reduced with using all what modern technology has to offer.

On average the number of children per household is 1.7. In the last 5 years there was an average of 52 child deaths by assault or undetermined intent a year in the UK.

In 2023 there was a 106% increase in child cruelty and neglect offences in the UK.

If things stay the same, we will have more devastating cases like Sara Sharif which could and should have been prevented.

It is time for a communication makeover
