REFORM ENROLLMENT SYSTEM, EXTEND ENROLLMENT!

REFORM ENROLLMENT SYSTEM, EXTEND ENROLLMENT!

The Issue

We, affected students, parents and guardians, student leaders and concerned students, call on the FEU administration to extend the enrollment and reform the ineffecient and incompetent enrollment system which has already had victimized students from different programs and institutes.

We declare that education as a constitutionally-guaranteed human right is a DEMOCRATIC and JUST struggle of FEU students. With the deep understanding of the current education that is commercialized and repressive, it results in an education system that is irresponsive of the genuine needs and demands of the students for a quality, affordable and accesible education.

On top of the already oppressive matriculation in FEU, the collection of exorbitant and dubious 'other school fees' (OSFs) serves a burden to FEU students. Skyrocketing tuition fees and other school fees go in tandem with commercialized, incompetent and repressive enrollment system to squeeze more profits from students and their families.

In the past days, students have been victimized by the repressive system. The enrollment system has resulted in various horrible cases--- from limited access to enrollment, dissolution of classes, limited and inaccesible subjects where students have to petition and request for the opening of courses and face the consequence of its non-availability, 'back-to-zero standing', to limited slots of courses- where students' collective right to education has been compromised and deemed irrelevant.

We detest any schemes and tactics to further aggravate the sufferings of students. Thus, we believe that in order to achieve genuine education reforms, the FEU administration must create a pro-student and pro-people policies, willing to listen to and forge unities with the university's stakeholders and linking its arms with the struggle of Filipino students, especially its own stakeholders.

Thereby, we call for an enrollment extension and a pro-student enrollment system that will cater to the needs of FEU students.
Student councils, organizations, campus publication, faculty union, and other campus organizations play an active role in the pursuit of a quality education and the advancement of rights and welfare of FEU students.
They must be free from any form of intervention and their independence must be upheld and protected so they can independently pursue principled positions and create collaborative programs.

We also call on the Commision on Higher Education and other policymakers to investigate the continuing failure of enrollment system and processes and the set-up of education in FEU, and stop the unabated tuiton and other school fees increase.

It's about time for the government to backtrack on deregulation and commercialization policies that have denied the Filipino youth of their basic right to education and kept millions out of school, and exercise its constitutional mandate to ensure that quality education is accessible at any level.

We remain that through forging unities and solidarities among students, parents, professors and all other stakeholders through engaging in various democratic activities that the advancement of our constitutionally-guranteed right to education will be realized.

We call on the FEU administration to REFORM THE ENROLLMENT SYSTEM and EXTEND THE ENROLLMENT UNTIL EVERY SINGLE ISSUE IS ADDRESSED.
