Urging Facebook to STOP allowing dog/cat breeders to advertise on their platform

The Issue

It is now well established that breeding dogs for profit is mostly a cruel process. Despite laws to regulate dog breeding, and safe guard the interest of dogs, it remains an underground, unethical and cruel practice in India.

Dogs (and cats) used for breeding are treated with cruelty, the pups often develop medical conditions and the breeds themselves are forced to live in Indian climatic conditions unsuitable to them. Animal shelters across India report that dogs of foreign breeds are often ill-treated and abandoned when owners are unable to provide for their requirements.

Dog breeders regularly use Facebook and other social media platforms to advertise and sell their products, i.e. pups of foreign dog breeds.

In allowing this to occur rampantly, Facebook and other social media platforms are aiding and abetting unethical dog/cat breeding and are therefore, party to the cruelty against animals.

Therefore we request, and demand, that Facebook should closely monitor and remove all posts advertising puppies from puppy mills.

After the utter devastation caused world-wide by the Covid19 pandemic, we should be further warned against  tampering with natural processes in the animal world.
