Here in Colorado we currently have a law that allows the Colorado police departments to use deadly force if they are called out to a scene and ANY felony is happening. That means EVEN IF a person IS NOT ARMED OR EVEN CONSIDERED DANGEROUS if let’s say the person is charged with felony theft for stealing clothes in a store and they run by law EVEN If NOT armed the police can shoot with deadly force. This means that even if the officers life or the community is not under any danger as far as weapons go the police can shoot with deadly force. This also means that if the police are called to a scene if there is any kinda weapon involved NOT BY SIGHT BUT BY MENTION OF DISPATCH(assumption) if you run they can use deadly force. Officers SHOULD NOT have the ability to play who lives or who dies just because someone is running from them. Please think about this what if an member of your family was just running to get away and was gunned down by the police and life was taken. Let’s help change this law let’s help our community. I am not by any means trying to justify any crimes but as a member of Colorado community I am personally afraid for my children. When I was growing up I had my wild days where I ran from the police and I think about that now and think to myself that I am happy to be alive! I could have been killed about a dozen times from just being an adolescent teen. Not knowing I could have been shoot down in cold blood. Our youth doesn’t know that the police can do this and not everyone has kids that never get into trouble. I did not know that it was okay for the police to shoot you while running if they are dispatched to a scene where a felony OF ANY KIND MIGHT BE HAPPENING. Please this law has gone one for to long let’s get together and make an change for not only us but our YOUTH as well. These Colorado police are shooting first because they have NO CONSEQUENCES FOR THERE ACTIONS! Not everyone is trying to KILL OR HARM some are just scared and want to get away deadly force should NOT BE USED ON SOMEONE RUNNING AWAY!
