The National Navajo Code Talkers Day is very important because it is apart of our history. During WWII, we were losing the war against the Japanese and they were able to break all of our coded messages. The Navajo Code Talkers had created a code from their language and the Japanese never cracked that code. We have Presidents Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Memorial Day, but no one knows about the day where we can honor, respect, and thank the Navajo Code Talkers. The then President Ronald Regan declared August 14, 1982 the National Navajo Code Talkers Day and then tweleve years later the Navajo Nation proclaimed August 14th as the offical day. Everyone knows about everybody else, what Martin Luther King Jr. did, but no one really knows about the Navajo Code Talkers and what they did for us. I started this petition because the Navajo Code Talkers mean so much to me, they are a huge part of history and no one knows about them. I have done a lot of research about the Navajo Code Talkers, the Native American's past history, and I am very passoinate about this subject, and this is not taught in any schools except for the school I go to and that is very dissapointing. Adding this day to the calendar might just make people wonder who they were, wanting to learn more about them and what they did, and adding this day to the calendar will show that we are very thankful for what they did for us, and that  to this very day we still think of them, honor them, and respect them. Please help me get this day on every calendar nation wide.
