LatinX, Indigenous Peoples, and Black History Courses in Schools

LatinX, Indigenous Peoples, and Black History Courses in Schools
The Issue
It is necessary that the Colorado school systems require students to take a Black, an Indigenous Peoples', and a LatinX cultural studies. This can include, but is not limited to, history courses, literature course, and/or art courses. It is important to provide this information to students as education is the first step to ending systemic racism.
Colorado can lead the nation to educational reform to include point of view from multiple backgrounds instead of supporting solely white ethnocentric curriculum. This will help students sympathize with those who are different from themselves and empower them to engage and uphold their civic duties.
This will encourage the study of the true history of the United States and hold people accountable for the betterment of our society. Allowing the voices of the past to be heard will promote the first steps to ending discrimination as our state and country move forward in ending the violence and hate regarding race.
