Opposition in Weaponizing the Legal System against Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming

The Issue

We sign below to petition the institutions of law enforcement to recognize that there are those who seek to use the institutions of justice and law enforcement to further individual agendas of bigoted thought and oppression of the LGBTQ Community and specifically, people of a transgender and gender non-conforming experience.
We state, unequivocally, that any use of law enforcement and institutions of justice, in the form of a complaint or accusation, that amounts to an effort to harass or persecute the LGBTQ Community, or a person of transgender or gender non-conforming experience, is unacceptable.
When one simply looks at another human being, what does one see? Do you look for differences first? Symmetry? Ways in which we are the same? Ways in which we are not? How does one feel? Alarmed? Loved? Concerned? Hated? Sensitive? Compassionate? Scared? Do you even care? Human beings are a complex equation and our exterior is only a fraction of what is really going on from our interior. In a way our exterior reflects what humans feel internally. Everything that we outwardly project influences another’s interior which will one day come to light again through the exterior.
Today, we are solving the problem of prejudice. Until every individual, regardless of sex, race, gender, religion, or location, can be given the freedom to express their own rights, our problems will always remain to haunt us forever. When these freedoms are restricted, then every individual in the community suffers. We are only as strong as our weakest link. Let’s stand strong and build the bond that connects us all as human beings. Our way of judging others is the only way we can judge ourselves. As a species let’s make the conscience decision not to judge another brother or sister. Let’s stand for one another and all for one. We are all on the same trip, we just have different baggage.
