Just a few minutes before George Floyd’s murderer, Derek Chauvin’s guilty verdict, Ma’Khia Bryant was shot dead by Colombus Ohio police. Ma’Khia had called the police for help because some girls were fighting outside her home. When the police arrived, seeing she had a knife (which she was using to protect herself) they proceeded to shoot her four times. In an article about the shooting there is footage from a livestream of a police officer (it’s unclear whether or not it was the officer who shot her) standing over her dead body. “This is the racist a** b**** that shot this poor f****** girl,” said the woman in the livestream. And she’s right. This is clearly racially motivated. The police didn’t even tell her to put down the knife. They just shot her without question. Ma’Khia deserves justice. Just because she is black and was defending her home does not mean she deserves to die.
