Stop Collin College from using Honorlock because it invades privacy
The Issue
Due to COVID-19 many schools have been moved online and are employing the use of proctoring programs such as Honorlock to administer tests to students. Collin County Community College is also using honorlock to give exams, such as in their Chemistry 1412 Class. We are asking the college to NOT employ the use of such softwares as they are a violation of privacy.
Besides being inconvenient for students who do not have access to a microphone, camera, or a private room to take the test, honorlock also invades students’ privacies. Honorlock logs and stores internal data from students’ computers such as IP address, operating systems, web history, network information, temporary and permanent cookies, and other additional user statistics and goes on to sell them to third parties. There is also fear that the program can look at personal data on the computer and on any computer associated with the network.
We are asking that Collin County Community College please refrain from using Honorlock as it is creating fear of invasion of privacy in students.
