Howdy all and Happy Saturday!
We have TWO days left until City Council reviews (and likely VOTES on) the draft ROO. There are a lot of question marks and holes that exist. We need to work to SLOW this down. Please continue to share our petition, as we will present our findings to Council Monday!
Things they have not done:
- Cleared up how the legacy (grandfathering) clause will actually work - we've now heard that property owners will LOSE their grandfathering if their occupancy changes OR if they lease to a family. This is a 'taking' for those property owners.
- Clear up questions regarding HOW someone who doesn't live or own property in YOUR neighborhood can reasonably come in an assemble forces against YOUR private property rights
- An economic impact study so they know how businesses may be impacted by this, especially those along GB and Texas
- A housing impact study - this should be a no brainer, but Council has not instructed staff to do this, even though numerous citizens have asked for it.
With so much at stake, Council needs to take more time and get REAL answers to these problems. NOT rush in to approval within only 10 days from ordinance draft release. This is unacceptable.
