Today Coles supermarkets announced they will continue giving away their better bags indefinitely. This announcement stalls one of the biggest initiatives the country has seen to reduce single use plastic bags.

It is not that hard to remember to bring your own bags, it may take a while but people WILL get used to it and will change their behavior. The plastic bag ban has long term benefits for all Australians and we need to send a message that giving free plastic bags to consumers is no longer ok.

The only way corporations such as Coles will listen is by us - the consumer boycotting their supermarkets, driving sales down until they reinstate their original policy of BYO bags or paying for your better bag at the checkout.
