As members of the Toormina and broader Coffs Coast community, we oppose the proposal for a 24Hr McDonalds in a mixed residential and commercial area. The proposed site is 5 Toormina Road, Toormina.

There has been very little community consultation with regard to this proposal. There is now an urgency to build as much awareness about the proposal, and obtain as many signatures as possible in a short period of time (due Thursday 13th August).

Our issues for concern include but are not limited to the following:

• Location of the site - residential homes are located within 50ms, a preschool is 180m away and the local high school is 650m down the street. This exposes homes and neighbourhoods to noise and light pollution, increased anti-social behaviour, 
• Environmental impact - litter in surrounding public spaces.
• Impact on competing small and medium local businesses. 
• Traffic congestion at Toormina Gardens/Toormina Rd and Bangalee Crescent which is already a major issue for the local community
• Health concerns - accessibility of unhealthy fast food, particularly for vulnerable and impressionable young people. 

With another McDonalds 5.8km (10 mins drive) away, we believe it is excessive to open another location in such close proximity, let alone for that venue to be open 24hrs.
