City Councilmember Mike Carroll and Mayor Christina Shea have issued a memo stating that they will support a resolution reaffirming that the City Council has no intent to change the General Plan or Zoning for the RCI property, and that the land use of the property shall remain "Commercial Recreation.”
Assuming that Councilmembers Farrah Khan and Anthony Kuo will support this resolution, since they have already publicly stated their support for this position, we will have at least four out of five votes, if not unanimous approval (Melissa Fox has not yet publicly stated a position).
The resolution approach proposed by Carroll and Shea appears to be identical to that taken by the City Council in September 2018 when it shut down efforts to change zoning for the Rancho San Joaquin golf course. It is thus a total victory for saving RCI from residential development!!
Thank you to all who sent emails to the City Council or who attended the Town Hall meeting last night. Your voices were heard, as specifically noted in the memo.
The resolution will be considered by the City Council on August 13th (4 pm). So mark your calendars.
