Now that KB Homes has officially submitted an application to the City of Irvine to build the 123 condos at the location of RCI, the next step is for the City Council to hold a scoping session to decide whether the application by KB Homes should proceed. This session will be calendared in the upcoming month of August. The time is upon us to take action! We want to avoid more cars on our already clogged streets, we don't want any further increases in the number of students at our local schools, and we don't want to them to take away a valued and affordable recreational amenity FOREVER that is enjoyed by residents throughout Irvine.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1) Send emails or letters immediately to the Irvine City Council asking them to reject the KB Homes application. Here's a sample letter for your use:
I am a VOTING citizen of Irvine and I oppose the conversion of the Racquet Club of Irvine to allow for residential development. RCI is the only private tennis club in Irvine. Replacing the tennis club with more housing will only exacerbate the awful traffic congestion on Culver and surrounding streets, increase crowding in local schools, and deprive the community of a valuable recreational amenity. Please vote "NO" on the application from KB Homes.
* Email this message to our Irvine City Council members at irvinecitycouncil@cityofirvine.org
* Or mail this letter to:

2) Attend the City Council meeting and make a short statement opposing the conversion of RCI land into a housing development. Your voice will make a difference! Especially when it comes to our city's master planned community which is guided by our city's General Plan.
3) Go to our website at SaveRCI.com and learn about why saving RCI is important to the Irvine community and PLEASE DONATE there so we have the resources to take on the developer.
