On September 27, 2016, our five year old daughter was placed on the wrong school bus home. The bus driver called dispatch to let them know that she had a Kindergartener with no parent present for pick up. The driver was told it was okay to leave a five year old alone. 

It should never be okay to leave a Kindergartener alone at a bus stop! But according to CMS Transportation Department, "A bus driver may not release a Pre-K aged child from the bus unless this person(s) is present at the bus stop. All other students, aged K-12, may wait for the bus and be discharged from the bus without the presence of an adult and/or authorized responsible party."

A five, six, or even seven year old should NEVER be left alone without previous parental approval. Help us change this policy! Our daughter was lucky but the next child may not be.
