A pregnant elephant died while standing in a river after it consumed a pineapple stuffed with crackers. The pineapple was fed to the tuskers by villagers in Kerala.
According to forest department sources, the elephant, aged around 15, was spotted in a pitiable condition on May 27. Though attempts were made to rescue it, it died. Veterinary doctors who performed the autopsy found the fetus.
This brutality must stop.We need to pressurize the govt officials to act against these perpetrators, and take long term measures to reduce human animal conflict.
The tragic incident came to light after a forest officer in Malappuram district shared the details of the horrific incident on his Facebook page.
