We want change to the speed limit on Moore Park Road! Make it a variable speed limit zone!

In 2020 Moore Park Road in Sydney was converted to a permanent (24 hour) 40km per hour traffic zone, reducing the limit from 50 km per hour previously.

The area is residential and also runs alongside a large stadium which, at times, attracts large crowds; there is limited to no commercial activity (shops etc) at all other times. Moore Park Road is a main artery road, 4 lanes (2 lanes each way), connecting the Eastern Suburbs with the rest of Sydney: 1. on the Western end via the variable speed limit Eastern Distributor and other roads such as Anzac Parade, and Southern Cross Drive; 2. on the Eastern end, the road is fed by and exits onto Oxford Street at a 60km zone.

It seems that having a variable speed limit on Moore Park Road may be appropriate, for peak pedestrian times such as events and perhaps school zone times; however, a 24 hour 40 km per hour speed limit is causing frustration amongst drivers and likely not adding to road safety.

We want Moore Park Road to be changed to a variable speed zone - with a variable limit of 50km to 60 km per hour at most times (potentially 60km per hour between 8pm and 6am for example), switching to 40 km per hour only during peak pedestrian times such as stadium events, and school hours.
