Closure of all US-58 median cut throughs in Suffolk and Chesapeake VA

The Issue

This petition is for Virginia Department of Transportation to immediately organize and plan the closure and removal of all US-58 medians  that are used to cross from Eastbound to Westbound traffic in the Suffolk and Chesapeake area. These closures and removals shall be done in the same manor as the median turn lane used to cross from Eastbound to Westbound at the Bisco Street intersection that was recently removed. We are also requesting the removal of the numerous entrances and exits that intersect the US-58 Westbound that allow direct passage across US-58 Westbound lane onto US-58 Eastbound lane from Turn Ln. and install one merging lane from Turn Ln to US-58 Westbound to allow ample time to accelerate a semi to highway speed for traffic merging from Turn Ln. onto US-58 Westbound and one exiting lane to allow ample time to decelerate a semi to safely exit from US-58 Westbound onto Turn Ln.

By limiting the number of unnecessary exits entrances and turn arounds at that location of US-58 and implementing a single merging lane as described previously in this petition to enter or exit US-58 Westbound and the closure of center median turn arounds this will force traffic to be directed to use an alternate route to complete a turn around to proceed in the other direction at a location of slower traffic speeds. Thus not causing unnecessary harm to other drivers because the traffic that is wanting to enter or exit US-58 will have ample time to accelerate and decelerate and remain with the flow of traffic as there are many ramps that can support the turn around of trucks and vehicles needing to change direction and proceed in the opposite direction on US-58 using the ramp to downtown Suffolk, Godwin Blvd or Prudent Blvd both have ample passage to allow safe passage and slower speeds to allow traffic to change route from East to West and vise versa.
