I am a regular resident of Coimbatore, India, and daily, I pass by an open drain sewer on my way to college through the PSG hospital road. This not only makes my journey unpleasant but also raises serious health concerns, especially being located near an hospital. Open drains are breeding grounds for disease-causing vectors; they increase the risk of vector-borne diseases, such as dengue and malaria. The uncomfortable fact about this is that it is easily preventable through straightforward measures such as the closing of open drains in our city. Apart from this, the open drain also contributes to environmental pollution. We are collectively responsible for keeping our city clean and our environment healthy. This petition asks the Coimbatore's city officials to close the open drain sewer in our area, thereby protecting public health and our environment.
