We are petitioning NSW Government to shut down this gun range permanently. The Katoomba Rifle and Pistol Club operates next to the World Heritage Blue Mountains National Park and next to the Leura Crematorium a place described as “…peaceful memorial gardens”. This gun range operates whenever they want as early as 8.30am on Sunday mornings. The extreme noise pollution travels kilometres across the Valley interfering with private residents, people with PTSD based on violence, businesses, disturbing and scaring local wild life, domestic animals and has been putting lead into to he hillside that drains off into the Wentworth Creek and Grose valley waterways for years. It is a blight and the local residents have had enough. We are petitioning the state government to shut them down, permanently. The Blue Mountains is a place claiming to support the environment and nature tourism and this gun range does nothing to further those claims.
