Reinstate the zebra crossing outside John Betts Primary School, Hammersmith, London

Reinstate the zebra crossing outside John Betts Primary School, Hammersmith, London
The Issue
Children's lives are being put in danger by having to cross a busy main road to get to school. During the Autumn half term break a new zebra crossing was removed from outside the school without consultation. Now children are putting their lives on the line just to access their right to education.
This is also a crossing point for Holy Innocents Church and Jordans nursery. The pavements on either side of this busy section of Paddenswick Road encourage pedestrians to cross at this point. School children, families with young children and elderly church goers all need to cross at this point. Pedestrians wait for a gap in the traffic but it is almost impossible to avoid cyclists, cars, lorries and buses to slowing down to allow pedestrians to cross. The removal of the zebra crossing is confusing for road users and pedestrians alike and is just an accident waiting to happen.
The local authority's response to parental concerns that the removal of the zebra crossing without consultation was cause for concern: 'How many fatalities have their been?'
Please don't wait until one of our children dies or is seriously injured walking to school!
