The momentum to stop U+I's plan to block our sunlight is snowballing! More than 2,000 of us have told Lambeth Council that the development is not worth the damage to on our local area, our community and our history.
We've had two big pieces of news since the last update:
1) U+I lost an industry award after we emailed the organisers about their lack of engagement or consultation with the community! We will never know if our interventions had a direct impact on the judges or not, but several of us sent our objections on U+I's nomination for the 8 Albert Embankment proposals, and were assured it was circulated to the judges before their decision. We know that if U+I had won it, they would be using it to improve the credibility of their damaging development and we'll need to keep our eyes pealed for any similar industry awards they might be using to strengthen their case.
2) South London Press picks up the campaign! There was an article in last week's issue of the South London Press covering the campaign and our outrage over U+I's award nomination. This has helped grow awareness of the developers actions to force through their proposals and will hopefully draw more people to get involved!
If you have any ideas about how we can keep spreading the word, send us a message (lambethvillage@gmail.com).
We can stop the towers!
