Hello everyone I hope you are all keeping well and getting your jab as quickly as possible!
I have not posted an update here for some time as apart from anything else I'm keen not to flood you out with emails all the time, I know what spam is like! However, I think it is now the right time to update everyone as things have moved on somewhat.
Taylor Wimpey have in fairness listened and they are now promoting a different route for their drainage, but its one that could unfortunately also have serious consequences. Whilst fewer homes might be affected, the impacts now may extend to playing fields and sports pitches used by the residents of Henley and soon to be made all weather facilities. Doesn't mix that well with floods of course!
In addition and perhaps even more serious, is that it has come to light that the site grouting process may put the underground aquifer at risk. Aquifers supply our drinking water, and this site is mainly in a Grade one protection zone, to avoid harm to the drinking water. Well, 16m deep concrete and ash don't mix too well with drinking water! The borehole that derives its drinking water is a matter of a short walk (less than a minute) away from this site.
We've asked Taylor Wimpey on many occasions to release the data they hold so our engineers can analyse it for themselves and be satisfied that no contamination is going to occur! Surprise surprise they have not been prepared to release that information......I wonder why?
Help us please to force the SODC Planners to get a full disclosure of all material issues here, as this decision simply cannot be cocked up or brushed under the carpet as too difficult to get the information!
Thank you all for your continuing support. Progress is slow, but it is in the right direction, and the Authorities are now beginning to take this matter more seriously, having proven that the original route was going to do harm despite what the authorities thought!
Your voice counts, lets all make it count some more!
