Hi All,
we have a meeting planned with a Representative of BT Openreach, The South West Regional Partnership Director, Paul Coles. I expect that meeting to be in the 1st or 2nd of September. So far we have 25 Households & Businesses represented, this is in effect the last call for more to attend, please come back to me as soon as you can, thanks.
I have also been receiving a list of questions to pose to Paul Coles, I have 4 questions so far, if you have a question/s, please pass it/them onto me, so that we can add it to the list.
I feel that we will only get full answers, to our questions, if we submit them in advance to Paul Coles, so that he will not have any excuses to not having answers, or not coming back to us.
THE QUESTIONS SO FAR ARE:
>>Some local residents have been told by visiting engineers that BT Engineers have been on courses to learn about the fibre that can be used to replace the old copper overhead lines. Is this true? can this be done for Uplyme and Harcombe?
>>how about changing the fee structure of residential customers, so those furthest away from the exchange (and experience unreliable service) pay less for the service. Average monthly broadband costs are approx £30-£60 per month, with only a small percentage for call costs, why are we paying what is in affect FULL rates for a second class /substandard service?
>>A local resident was told by a customer services agent that the rollout of fibre broadband/upgrades has been put on indefinite hold because of the changes in government and Brexit/coming out of the EU. Is this true? what are BT Openreach plans for upgrading our areas.
>> In this day and age when people are encouraged to work from home, the residents of Uplyme/Harcombe find it increasingly difficult to do so with such a slow/non-existent broadband connection in our area, how would you recommend this be improved without any upgrade’?
>> your questions? ? ? ?
Even if you cannot attend the meeting, please let me have your questions, so that we can properly represent all who have signed the petition.
As soon as I have meeting dates, I will let you know ASAP. Due to the numbers so far, I think we will have to hold the meeting in Uplyme Village Hall, unfortunately this will have to be during working hours, (BT pre-condition) sorry.
I shall look forward to your replies ;-)
Best Regards to All
