Whistleblower Tina Peters, a 70-year-old former Mesa County, Colorado Clerk and Recorder, faces the fight of her life. As the mother of Navy SEAL Remington Peters, who bravely served in Iraq and Afghanistan and ultimately gave his life in service to his country in 2017, Tina's legacy is one of dedication and sacrifice. Today, she is serving a nine-year prison sentence, while battling deteriorating health conditions, for attempting to preserve election records she believed contained evidence of fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

This case starkly highlights the issue of a two-tiered justice system. In stark contrast, a Democrat Colorado state senator convicted of similar charges faced only probation and community service. Why does Tina, a Republican woman in fragile health, receive such a harsh punishment? Her indictment conveniently coincided with her campaign for Colorado Secretary of State against the very official leading the investigation against her.

Tina's conviction reflects deep-rooted inequalities within our legal system that could impact any one of us. While Tina continues her sentence, her health worsens, and justice remains unserved.
