Clemency for Timothy Gadson - Serving An Unjust LIFE Sentence

Clemency for Timothy Gadson - Serving An Unjust LIFE Sentence
The Issue
This is a petition in Support of Clemency for Timothy Gadson, Reg. #86328-071.
We are requesting your support for Timothy Gadson who is currently serving a LIFE sentence at FCI Bennettsville for a Non-Violent Drug conviction (see letter of remorse under Updates below). After 24 years of incarceration, we firmly believe that Mr. Gadson has demonstrated a profound transformation and is a suitable candidate for clemency.
Through the duration of his incarceration, Mr. Gadson has taken significant steps towards rehabilitation, including getting his GED, taking Vocational Training classes and receiving certifications such as EPA 608 & 609 Conn/HVAC, Residential Carpentry, Housekeeping Apprenticeship, NCCER Core Construction, VT Custodial Maintenance and Culinary Arts-Serve Safe Certification. Mr. Gadson has also enrolled and completed many life skill courses including Parenting, Personal Development, Anger Management, Suicide Prevention Program, Better Life, Basic Cognitive Skills, Microsoft VT, Microeconomics, UNICOR Training Course for Productive Inspector, Financial Wealth and Physical fitness/health EDC. In addition, Mr. Gadson has used his time to better himself and be prepared for a positive productive life post-incarceration. He has completed Drug Treatment Programs, Recovery/Second Chance Seminar, Non-Residential Drug Abuse program, Alcoholics Anonymous Program, Victim Impact and Criminal Thinking group, Threshold Faith-based Program, The Way To Happiness (A Criminology Study, Restoring Self Respect program) Alternative to Violence Project (AVP Basic, Advanced, Training for Facilitators, Apprenticeship Facilitator workshop). In addition, Mr. Gadson success fully participated in Re-Entry; Positive Outcomes and Job Fair, which included learning how to complete job applications, create resumes, how to dress and engage in mock job fairs and interviews. Mr. Gadson is currently employed by Trust Fund (commissary dept.) as a warehouse worker, pulling orders and stocking shelves as well as a lineman. He has shown through his contributions to the community in his role as a mental health and suicide companion, working under the close supervision of a psychologist team of other peer support specialists to other incarcerated individuals struggling with mental illness. Mr. Gadson also participates in a Victim Impact Criminal Thinking Group as a Guest Speaker and provides support to fellow inmates who are struggling with drug addiction/abuse; this is done in a 12-step support group relying on his own personal experiences with treatment and training to create positive behavior and safe spaces for others to talk and feel heard.
Mr. Gadson have accepted full responsibility for his actions and has expressed sincere gratitude with remorse. His commitment to self-improvement and the well-being of others is evident and has had a positive impact on those around him. As evidenced by his many achievements and accomplishments Mr. Gadson has proven he can work with others, follow rules and contribute positively in the community.
Mr. Gadson hasn't had a disciplinary infraction in over 12 years! Given Mr. Gadson's demonstrated change in character, we urge the Office of The Pardon Attorney and the President of the United States to favorably consider this petition for clemency. It is our belief that Mr. Gadson has earned the opportunity to reintegrate into society and continue his positive trajectory.
We appreciate your consideration of this petition and hope for a just and compassionate review of Timothy Gadson’s case.
