Clear the Sidewalks: Protect People and Dogs from Scooter & Bike Hazards in Seattle

The Issue

We, the concerned residents and animal lovers of Seattle, urge city officials to take immediate action to restore safety and order to our sidewalks by removing scooters and bicycles from pedestrian paths.

Sidewalks were designed as safe havens for walking—not obstacle courses littered with speeding wheels and carelessly parked devices. The growing presence of electric scooters and bicycles on sidewalks has made it increasingly unsafe for everyone, including children, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and even our beloved pets.

Seattle deserves pedestrian spaces that are peaceful and predictable. We respectfully ask for the following:

🚫 A total ban on riding electric scooters and bicycles on sidewalks and enforcement of such
📍 Clearly marked zones for scooter and bike parking, off of sidewalks, away from doorways, storefronts, and trash receptacles
👮 Increased enforcement of sidewalk usage rules to penalize reckless riding or illegal parking
Demand scooter and bike share companies have a dedicated complaint conduit to submit photos and videos of illegally parked/abandoned vehicles and unsafe riding practices.
Let's stand together to reclaim Seattle sidewalks—where feet and paws, not wheels, belong.
