I am a resident of Meadowlands, Hamilton, ON, Canada and I have personally witnessed the dangers that obstructive bushes and shrubs on our roundabouts pose to pedestrians. One day on my way home, a driver drove straight through while myself and another driver were stopped for a mother and her two small children to cross the street. Thanks to my quick reaction in honking the horn, a potential accident was avoided by mere inches.

On another occasion, I saw a cyclist who was hit at the roundabout. These incidents are not isolated. The large obstructive vegetation on our roundabouts is causing visibility issues for drivers which can lead to serious accidents involving pedestrians. 

We call upon our local government officials in Meadowlands, Hamilton to take immediate action by removing, trimming or replacing all the bushes and shrubs with shorter plants in our roundabouts that are obstructing drivers' view of incoming traffic and those trying to cross the road. This simple act could significantly improve road safety for all users - motorists as well as pedestrians.
