The pavements along Heathway and Church Elm Lane have become a serious public health concern. They are stained with urine, chewing gum, litter, and fluids leaking from fly‑tipped waste and overflowing bins. These unsanitary conditions are unacceptable in busy public areas used daily by residents, shoppers, and commuters.

Despite repeated complaints, the council has failed to carry out proper jet‑washing and deep cleaning. Routine sweeping does not remove the grime, odour, or sticky residue that has built up over time. The result is a filthy, stained environment that damages local pride and poses hygiene risks.

We, the undersigned, call on Barking & Dagenham Council to:

• Introduce a regular jet‑washing schedule for Heathway and Church Elm Lane footpaths.
• Treat these areas as priority hygiene zones, not just litter‑picking routes.
• Ensure bin fluids and fly‑tip residues are properly disinfected and removed.
• Restore the pavements to a clean, safe, and respectable condition for all residents.

Clean streets are not a luxury — they are a basic standard of public care.
