The Issue

Starting in 2026, the TDSB is planning on firing 200 teachers, 15 specialized kindergarten classes and programs will be terminated, and outdoor education resources and historic centers like the Etobicoke Outdoor Education centre will lose their funding.

Where is the money actually  going? Rising debt, unaffordable housing, and cutting education funding are just some of the many factors that are driving families out of Toronto and forcing our government to make even poorer decisions...and the kids that live in this city are paying the price.

Larger classes, minimal resources and attention, they all mean one thing: Loss of opportunities. The resources and help that students are getting is deteriorating. What happened to learning and opportunity? You might think that this doesn't affect you - So what if students are suffering? Well, the answer is simple: the future is suffering, because students ARE the future. These "savings," these "budget cuts, "are slowly erasing the opportunities for EVERYONE.

The education of thousands of students depends on our government and the choices they are making. Our future is at risk. We need to work together as a community to come up with smart and fair solutions that restore the funding that schools across Toronto need. Because picking away at our education is NOT the answer.
