Classify Pig Farm Road as a trail (Amherst, NH)
The Issue
As a resident of Amherst, New Hampshire, I find solace and tranquility on Pig Farm Road - a dirt pathway that weaves a mile through scenic forestry and is home to many of our town's residents. This road is not just dirt and gravel to us, it is a sanctuary for birds, deer, and the sweet serenity that comes with nature. Each day, I embark on a journey down this road, joined by my faithful canine companion. We admire the tranquil scenery and diverse wildlife. Pig Farm Road is not merely a path, it is a haven for walking, cycling, and other passive recreation.
However, this refuge is under threat from the increase in use by automobiles. Such traffic disrupts the peace and quiet of our community, subjecting wildlife to unnecessary distress, and jeopardizes the safety of those who use the road for recreational activities.
We are asking the Board of Selectmen to support a warrant article that would change the classification from a class 6 road to a trail.
Your support in signing this petition will make a difference in preserving the tranquility of Pig Farm Road, upholding the integrity of our beloved landmarks, and ensuring the road remains a safe haven for all its frequenters - human and animal alike.
