The Issue

I am a narcissistic abuse survivor. For years, I endured relentless gaslighting, coercive control, devaluation, and psychological manipulation from a narcissist. The abuse didn't end when the relationship stopped—I still suffer daily from Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD): flashbacks, hypervigilance, emotional dysregulation, destruída trust, chronic anxiety, dissociation, and a shattered sense of self.

This isn't "just a bad relations

hip." It's deliberate psychological violence that rewires the brain. Millions worldwide endure the same silent devastation.

The Reality:

Narcissistic Personality Disorder affects 1-6% of people (80-480 million adults worldwide) [DSM-5/NIH]

Psychological abuse predicts C-PTSD more strongly than physical violence in many cases

Victims face anxiety, depression, dissociation, and elevated suicide risk

Children of narcissists often carry  lifelong C-PTSD

Why Current Laws Fail:

Narcissistic abuse isn't recognized under most domestic violence laws. Victims like me continue suffering with little legal recourse. Perpetrators face no charges, no confinement, no registries—they simply target new victims while governments call it "private."

Expert Consensus:

Dr. Ramani Durvasula (clinical psychologist): Narcissistic relationships trigger gaslighting, freeze responses, shame, and dysregulated nervous systems—survivors face long-term betrayal trauma with no easy escape [YouTube: "The Truth About Complex PTSD & Narcissistic Abuse"]

Sam Vaknin (coined "narcissistic abuse" in 1995): It's a pernicious subtype involving premeditated negation of victim's autonomy, yielding C-PTSD, dissociation, and fractured identity—perpetrators rarely face consequences

Research: Coercive control deeply affects victims' ability to lead healthy lives, driving cycles of anxiety, depression, and isolation

Global Precedents Exist:

Countries like France and Sweden have started recognizing psychological abuse as part of domestic violence laws. The U.S., U.K., and other nations must follow.

What We Demand

Amend domestic violence and criminal codes to explicitly classify severe narcissistic abuse (gaslighting, coercive control, psychological manipulation) as a standalone felony offense with penalties matching physical domestic violence.

This includes:

Clear legal definitions of psychological abuse

Mandatory law enforcement/judge training to identify narcissistic abuse patterns

Protection orders and accountability mechanisms for survivors

Funding for C-PTSD treatment programs and survivor support

It's time to acknowledge this abuse's gravity and offer victims legal protection. By signing, you advocate for recognition of narcissistic abuse as a crime, providing hope for countless individuals suffering in silence.

Together, let's drive this crucial change.
