As the air quality gets worse I am questioning why Chaffey School District has not suspended school? Today as I was walking to class I noticed ash falling down from the sky and yet we are still allowed to walk around school consuming the poor air quality. I see my peers rubbing their eyes from the ashes because it is irritating and burning their eyes. The weather reports state that the air quality is unhealthy. Shouldn’t that be concerning? Should students be outdoors? This is a major health concern for the students that have respiratory conditions and weak immune systems. Many parents and guardians are concerned with this issue and are proactively taking their children out of school, however since school is still in session those students have a higher probability of falling behind. Overall, there is an overwhelming concerned about the poor air quality which is effecting students and can lead to major health issues such as respiratory problems, skin irritation, and allergies. With that being said it would seem the appropriate action from the school board would be to suspend school until these conditions improve. We have already seen neighboring school districts taking these actions to suspend school so their students will be safe and protected, so its unclear as to why Chaffey school district has not taken action to protect their students. So in conclusion I would like to formally request that Chaffey School district suspend  until the air quality improves to an acceptable level.
