Disturbing News: Bulgaria's Prosecutor General Tsatsarov who is one of the perpetrators nominated in my father's application under the US Magnitsky Act will meet the Prosecutor General of Russia Chaika for the second time in an official capacity this summer. According to news reports and NGOs, Chaika himself "played a significant role in the ill-treatment and death in custody of Sergei Magnitsky." His tragic end inspired the US Government to enact the US Magnitsky Act, which allows the US to sanction corrupt officials implicated in human rights abuse, in a larger effort to enforce democratic values globally. In August this year, 23 NGOs, including Freedom House and Transparency International, demanded that Chaika's son be sanctioned under the Magnitsky Act for corruption and human rights abuse.
