PLANNING BOARD HEARING AT 6:00 PM
WHITEFISH CITY HALL
418 E. 2nd Street
The importance of attendance to this meeting cannot be overstated -please participate in this public process and mark your calendars to attend. Click here for the agenda and how to attend virtually for those unable to attend in person.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AND HOW YOU CAN HELP
- When the board gets to agenda items WPUD 21-03 (PUD OVERLAY) & WZC 21-03 (COMMERCIAL ZONE CHANGE), staff will present a report and the applicant will likely make a presentation. After asking questions, the board will then open the floor to public comments.
- Each person is allowed the opportunity to speak – please keep it concise and to the point
- We ask that you make your voice heard!!! If you agree with the provided opposition talking points after having done your own research, all you have to do is simple.
- State your name and where you live – i.e. My name is John Smith and I am a resident in the City of Whitefish
- I urge the planning board to recommend denial of the Mountain Gateway WPUD and zoning map applications.
- The applicant has not done their due diligence regarding the negative impacts of this project.
- This development is not consistent with the vision for our community embodied in our Growth Policy.
- The development will create even more traffic in a congested area which poses a risk to public health and safety, especially for pedestrians, cyclists, and during the wildfire season.
- A project of this size should not be considered, let alone approved, until we can ensure that there is enough capacity in our public schools, that our roadways are sufficient to provide safe egress during emergency evacuations, that our water quality is being protected and that the surrounding neighborhood character is being supported and maintained. Muldown Elementary and Whitefish High School are already nearing student capacity levels.
- Furthermore, this development does not provide the type of affordable housing our community needs – workforce housing and housing that gives those who work and live here the opportunity to invest and build home equity in our community.
- Finally, but so important, thank the board for volunteering their time for our community.
